[…] A dear friend and colleague who is a minister with the Assemblies of God was returning to Spain after an extended stay back in the States — fundraising, you know. He got a flat in the neighborhood next to ours, which is […] one of the main centers of Islamic presence in the city. We started weekly prayer walks. He joined a church in that neighborhood, and the pastor was excited about the idea of reaching Muslims with the gospel. Redeemer is in a great neighborhood for reaching young secular Spaniards, but not Muslims.
Sharon and I are both proficient in Arabic. I can teach and play guitar, she sings well. Why not give this a try? I asked. Dan had connections with local leaders as well as a ministry in the city center reaching Muslims, and my wife and I had the language skills. We prayed. Doors opened.

On February 18th of 2018 at the Anglican Cathedral of Madrid I was ordained as a presbyter of the Anglican Communion by the Rt. Rev. Carlos Lopez Lozano. Below is one picture, though you can find more pictures and details at the cathedral blog (though in Spanish).
The Anglican Cathedral of the Redeemer in Madrid, Spain will host a Christmas Eve service this year at 8:00 pm. Our address is Calle de la Beneficencia, 18 near the Tribunal metro stop (see photo below).
The service will consists of lessons and carols, meaning that we will alternate between a bible reading (a lesson) and a Christmas song. Children and international visitors are invited. The service will be bilingual, so some material in English and some in Spanish.
If you would like to do one of the readings or have any questions please e-mail the Rev. Dr. Duane Miller at drdamiller1232 [at] gmail [dot] com
People from any faith tradition or none are invited to this intimate encounter with the divine.
So we’re settling down nicely in Madrid. Got a bank account and will hopefully have a flat some time next week. My work here is related to ministry and education, which is pretty much what I’ve been doing since we moved to Nazareth back in 2008.
I’m pleased to be serving as deacon at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer (Iglesia Catedral del Redentor). This is the only cathedral church of the Reformed Episcopal Church of Spain (Iglesia Española Reformada Episcopal). This is the oldest Protestant church in the country. What privilege to serve at such a historical church. Here are a couple pictures, and then a couple family pictures too.
